Our garden is my happy place...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When everything else is rough, I'm feeling stressed, whatever... our garden is my happy place. After a long, long day, Ryan and I wandered out there last night--just like every night. It's fun to spend time together, away from TV and other technologies and just be proud of what we've accomplished, ya know?? Cheesy, perhaps, but true!

Our garden... it grows!!

Darling hubby that he is, Ryan went out to the garden last night, like every night, to perform his daily inspection. He was excited to come in with something NEW! Tomatoes!

They're sure tasty, too!! Any day now, it's going to be a tomato parade... to go with our zucchini parade. Which reminds me, anyone want some zucchini??

P.S., I so LOVE what this pregnancy is doing for my nails... see 'em?

The Garden of Weedon...

Two posts today?!?! I'm on a roll! :o)

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to starting a garden update! Here is our garden a couple of weeks ago, taken from a distance. Please ignore the delightful scenery, it's just our neighbors. *Groan and a sigh...*

Here's our zucchini plant shortly after we stuck it in the dirt... yea, we bought a start instead of using seeds. But I grew some other things from seed!

...and here is our zucchini plant now. Look at the cute little baby veggies already growing strong!

EDD and a Cherry Tree...

Yesterday was an important day in our house. It was Brody's EDD (Estimated Due Date). I wondered, leading up to yesterday, how I would feel... and I've got to say that I really surprised myself.

I don't know why, really, but yesterday was a nice day. Sure, I thought about the "what-ifs" a few times, I wondered what it would be like if we were welcoming a baby into our home any day now. But I also had a good time with Ryan.

We planted our veggie garden... all of it. A lot of the stuff was an "insta-garden," meaning we bought tomato plants as opposed to planting seeds, etc., etc. and I'm fine with that. It was just easier that way for our first gardening experiment, and it looks pretty impressive already! I am waiting on some seeds to sprout though... beans, carrots, swiss chard, spinach, butternut squash and cucumber.

We also ventured out to Lowe's, where we fell in love with a Yoshino Cherry Tree. We brought it home and planted it in the front yard in honor of our sweet little angel.

So... it was a nice day, but I'm also relieved that it has passed. I was nervous about what to expect, how I would feel, you get the idea.

P.S.--I've got some pictures of the garden... I'll post them later.

My time off is coming to an end...

Today is the last day of my week off... although I've still got the weekend, my days off are done.

It's been a long week, in some respects. Many trips have been made to the hospital, as my step-dad and my mom's best friend are both spending some time there. The trips to the hospital have been difficult for me... this was my first time there after leaving with empty arms in November. I found myself in a puddle of tears after coming home on the first night, but Ryan was quick to my rescue and quick to talk me down. I don't know what I'd do without him.

I can feel spring in the air, our veggie garden is in the works... and I can't wait for summer.

The countdown is on for June 12th, the last day of school...

Spring...

Spring is coming... can you feel it yet? It's so nice to see the sun, even to crack the windows for a little fresh air.

I planted some seeds the other day... rosemary, thyme, basil, catnip, mint and chives... and they're poking their heads up from the seedling trays already! I'll post a photo soon.

On the subject of mother's day, have I mentioned how completely terrified I am for that day to come? Inside, I'll be screaming...
