Fetal Fibronectins and peein' in cups...

Took a trip to the doctor today... I've been waking up multiple times during the night with some pretty strong cramps. They're different than contractions--no tightening happens WITH the pain... but anyway, it was enough to make me concerned and think a call to my doctor was worth my time.

So I called, and they asked me to come in pretty much right away. Full work-up... exam, fetal fibronectin test, peed in a cup... and everything looks good. Seems I'm having some sort of somethin' going on in there, but at least it's not causing any dilation or anything we've found so far.

So, for now, I try to take it easy and I wait. I hate being the bundle of nerves that I am... and I hate never knowing if he's *really* ok in there.

I'm sure he's just fine! I took 3 of those fetal fibronectin tests and they all came out negative. AND I had cramps WITH the tightening from 22 weeks on! I'm proof that a woman can walk around for almost 20 weeks with a soft cervix and from 34 weeks until birth at 5 centimeters dialted....my little one is here even with all that activity! Hang in there...I'll be praying for you and your little one! =)

THREE?! Yowza!! ...and five centimeters for so long?! shweeww!!

I give you major credit... this baby-birthin' stuff is scary business, and I'm such a worrier by nature.

I'm glad I went in today, for the reassurance, ya know?

Yikes! I am glad everything is okay!

I have read many have positive tests and make it very far into the pregnancy.

Drink lots of water, rest, rest and rest some more!!

I agree with Kelly..rest, rest, rest. But also, I had BH contractions that felt like strong cramps from about 31 weeks on. I was never dilated or anything (hell...I couldn't even dilate when it was time..hence the c-section) so I am sure you will be just fine. A bit uncomfortable...but just fine :-) Take this opportunity to lay around, watch movies, and have DH wait on you hand and foot :-)

I went through this same thing, starting at 4 months preggo -- not fun but I'm sure everything is fine. Hang in there, you are getting closer to meeting that beautiful little boy of yours and it will be like nothing you've ever experienced before. :)

Thanks again, girls.. glad I'm not alone--though, of course, I don't wish any of this on anyone.

Yes, do drink lots and lots of water and make sure you don't have a UTI. That's why I had been dilating, I was dehydrated and had a bladder infection...

Oohh... that's no fun! Looks like I'm in the clear for a UTI--they had me leave an, ahem, 'specimen' when I went to get checked out...
