Coupons and good deals...

It's been a while since I've posted about my couponing adventures, so I figured I'd give an update today with my trip to Safeway. I know there are Coupon Smarties out there who would totally put me to shame, but I think I did pretty well!

I should mention too, that I don't totally plan my meals around sales and coupons, but rather try to incorporate those deals in with my meal plans. We're simply not at the point where we NEED to stick to a strict, rigid food budget-but anything I can save, we are able to apply toward other expenses. (Student loans, anyone??)

Here's my loot:

Some of the highlights... 4 lbs. strawberries for $4, dozen eggs for $1, nearly 4 lbs. boneless pork loin for about $6, five boxes of mac and cheese for $3, two cans of Airwick spray for $1, FREE Meow Mix cat food, FREE chips, FREE Airwick plug-in, 4 lbs. chicken breasts for just about $5... um, and I'll stop there because you're probably all bored out of your minds reading this. Oh! The grand total was $53.78, savings were $53.78. That's a savings of, well, duh! 50%!! Go me!

50% is great! Do you have CVS or Walgreens? I have really increased my savings by shopping there. I spent a lot on non-food items until I learned the ropes at those stores. Now I spend hardly anything on snacks, paper products, cleaning, and personal items (shampoo,make-up,toothpaste)!My hubby finally got excited when I sent him in to buy OREOS with a register coupon. He got them free and got another register reciept for $3!! I think actually walking in the store with a slip of paper-then coming out with 2 packages of Oreos and more coupons-without using money(except tax) made him a true believer!

lol!! Love the Oreo scenario... perhaps Maggie should experiment with a sweet treat like that??

We don't have a CVS for miles and miles, which makes me so sad--but we do have a Walgreens. I'm learning the Walgreens Way as we speak, and actually today just popped in to get a couple of last minute Easy Saver Rebate items.

Hmm... you've inspired me. Perhaps I'll post a photo of what I accomplished today at Walgreens. It's a doozie! :o)

Please share your coupon knowledge with me... I don't know where to begin.

Of course, Laura!

I'll work on a blog post with links to some of the things I've learned.

I started this all... hmm, maybe two months ago? If that? Anyway, I got all of my information by reading online.

So like I said, let me work on a post for you--I promise it'll be helpful.
