May she rest peacefully...

On Thursday, April 10th just before 8:00 PM, Judi passed away.

I'm thankful that her fight is over and that she will not suffer any longer, but I am saddened to see her go. Judi was a wonderful part of our lives.

I'm alive...

Today is a list day... I don't seem to have much energy for anything fancy.

1. I'm tired. Feel-like-the-dead kind of tired... the kind where you don't want to do anything. At all.
2. Judi is still fighting. Her breathing tonight is very labored.
3. My house is a disaster area... probably not that bad to an "outsider," but it's making me crazy. Why haven't I cleaned it? See list item number one.
4. I'm hooked on a book. Twilight.
5. I've spent all of my time (while not working) at my mom's house, where Judi and her family are camped out until further notice. Just trying to be there... be helpful... whatever.
6. My mind is an emotional snow globe right now... bits and pieces floating every-which-way, leaving me to sit and wait for the pieces to settle at the bottom.
7. I told Judi yesterday to look for our Brody when she gets to where she's going. She opened her eyes and fluttered her lashes at me... reducing me to a puddle of tears. Sigh.

Judi

My mom's best friend has cancer. She is terminal, and she is very near the end of her life.

Judi has been battling cancer since 1994, when she was given her first breast cancer diagnosis. Since then, she has battled breast cancer two times, the second time being now. The cancer could not be eliminated, and it has spread to her lungs, spine, and now her brain.

On Tuesday, she was admitted to the hospital... more than anything, in an effort to make her more comfortable. Today, she began care through our local Hospice program, and she was moved, via ambulance, to her final home. My parent's house.

For years, they have agreed that, should Judi need 'round-the-clock care, she would come to stay with my mom. Judi's daughter is home from California and will be staying with her mom. We're all working together in an attempt to make her as comfortable as possible... nothing more.

Please keep Judi, and her amazing kids, in your thoughts... I know they can use all of the strength they can gather right now.
