I've finally gotten the opportunity to take some pictures that give an idea of exactly WHAT our 'gapartment' is going to look like. This is a long post, but I just had so much to describe! lol!
Here's the bedroom corner... our nice, big closet with space on top for some big baskets and what-not as well. I plan to make use of every *inch* of that closet! Our dresser sits relatively low, and it'll be pushed in below the clothes bar to save floor space outside of the closet. We still need to paint the trim around the window white... perhaps that'll be done today. We'll be installing some floating, movable room dividers so that we can 'close off' our bedroom whenever we'd like. I think this corner is somewhere around 8x10.
The living room corner. The two pieces of 'furniture' you can see in this picture are my new flat-folding kitchen island (yay! space conservation!), which collapses down to about six inches wide... and then my great-grandma's old treadle sewing machine cabinet. It's small and has great personality, and will be used below our TV (TV will hang on the wall, about where those two outlet boxes are at head-height) as a stand for the cable box, DVD player and Ryan's Wii. We need to paint the window trim on that window too, again, maybe today. I think this corner is somewhere around 12x11.
The kitchen corner. The cabinets are all attached in their final resting places now... the gap between the two cabinets on the left will house our oven... and then the fridge will sit on the end of the left side of the cabinets. We've yet to install the upper cabinets, range hood, etc. but that will happen soon. We also need to build a new step that doesn't take up so much room, and paint the wood trim around the door to match. That door leads to our bathroom, and then on into my mom's house.
The baby corner. This is going to be so fun to decorate... white wooden bi-fold doors are going in to cover up the big hole in the wall. That's the water heater, furnace and everything else. It'll just sort of look like a closet when it's all done. The other 'hole' in the wall is the breaker box panel, which has a door, which is being painted blue to blend with the wall. I'm going to paint a mural on that wall soon, and the crib will go on that wall. The door you can see is the exit door, which needs to be painted white as well... and we'll be putting up room dividers to make a little baby space. I think this corner is about 5x7.
So there you have it... the four corners of the gapartment! I'm probably crazy... but I'm actually really, really excited to get everything all moved in, put the finishing touches on our space and be FREE of so much extra STUFF everywhere!

Looking good! Can't wait to see when you have put in some furniture. It is making more sense to me now- kind of like a loft apartment!
Yep, yep, yep! Much like a loft apartment... and never you worry, I'll post photos with furniture in the weeks to come :o)
I love it! Next time I'm in Oly I would love to come see it... although that might not be until spring.
